What is NorthBot?
NorthBot is quote and invoice software for UK tradesmen that works as an invoice bot inside WhatsApp. Think of it as a WhatsApp invoice generator and quoting software in one: send a voice note or a text about the job and get a branded PDF quote back, then turn it into an invoice when the job is done. It is made by Local Search North.
Do I need to download anything?
No. NorthBot works inside WhatsApp. Message the number, answer a few setup questions and you can quote straight away. There is also an app if you prefer a screen, but you do not need it.
Do I need a card to start?
No. Messaging NorthBot starts a 14-day free trial with no card. When the trial is ending NorthBot sends you a link to subscribe at £39.99 a month.
Can I send an invoice on WhatsApp?
Yes. When the job is done, tell NorthBot "invoice the Whitfield job". It builds the invoice from the quote without you typing it all again, adds your bank details, a due date and a Pay now card payment link if you have one, and sends the PDF back into the chat. Forward it to your customer on WhatsApp like any other file.
Does NorthBot do CIS invoices?
Yes, with CIS reverse charge VAT. Tell it the invoice is reverse charge and it takes the VAT off, adds the HMRC wording and names the contractor who accounts for the VAT. It can also put your UTR, NI number and company number on your invoices.
How is NorthBot different from Tradify?
Tradify and similar apps are full job management systems: scheduling, timesheets, teams and a lot of screens to learn. NorthBot does the paperwork most one-man bands actually need, quotes, invoices, card payments and review requests, inside WhatsApp with nothing to install. NorthBot does not do scheduling, timesheets or team rotas, so if that is what you are after this is not the tool. If you just want quotes and invoices out the door quickly, it is a lot simpler.
